A report from a local Chicago news source states a major change in the policy regarding the use of deadly force.
Effective next Monday, police officers will be able to fire their guns under circumstances where they previously could not.
The new policy, from police Supt. Jody Weis, confirmed Wednesday morning, allows police officers to shoot at fleeing vehicles if the driver or passengers are suspected of committing a felony.
The old policy allowed officers only to shoot at vehicles that pose a threat, such as if the driver were trying to run down the officer. But now, officers need only suspicion to open fire.
The last few months Chicago has been ravaged by wave after wave of shooting spree. The latest incident happened just last night where 14 were injured in over 4 hours of shooting crimes, taking place in west side Chicago.
However giving police the right to use of deadly force on anyone “SUSPECTED” of committing a felony? Under today’s laws almost anything could be considered a felony. This is an open declaration of martial law. To anyone who’s going to be in Chicago next few months. Watch your back, and don’t piss off any police officers or else they will shoot you.
