First social networking sites like twitter and Facebook were taken offline. Followed by Google and then the entire internet. Not long after that cell phones went down and eventually even land lines were shut off. There were still a hand full of people in the center of the Egyptian revolution who were able to communicate with others and spread information.
I evacuated my family to Atlanta on Sunday at noon after making sure other people I know including employees had left and did not need transport. I listened to the mayor order a mandatory evacuation of the city as I passed Slidell about 30 miles east of the city.
